Meta said on Friday it will acquire Limitless, an artificial intelligence wearable startup known for a compact pendant that records conversations and creates summaries. The companies announced the agreement as interest grows in small, AI-enabled hardware. Financial terms were not released.
A Meta spokesperson said the deal will support the company’s effort to build more AI-powered wearables. Limitless chief executive Dan Siroker disclosed the acquisition in a blog post and video. He said the startup shares Meta’s vision of developing devices that provide what the company calls personal superintelligence.
Meta has been promoting that concept as it rolls out new hardware and software features tied to its AI models. The company recently drew attention with its Ray-Ban smartglasses, which include Meta’s digital assistant. The product has exceeded internal expectations, Meta has said, and reflects the company’s broader shift toward wearables that blend displays, cameras and voice features.
Limitless sells a small pendant designed to be worn around the neck. The device can capture conversations and produce summaries for users. Siroker said the product aligns with Meta’s outlook for lightweight tools that integrate AI across daily tasks.
The AI wearable field has expanded this year, though no single product has dominated the market. Several startups offer compact recording devices with similar features. Friend sells a pendant-style unit. Plaud offers a thin card-shaped or pill-shaped device that can be clipped to clothing or worn on the wrist or neck. Bee makes a wrist-worn tool that Amazon bought in July.
Large technology companies are integrating AI systems into their existing hardware lines. Amazon uses its own AI models in Alexa+ versions of its Echo speakers. Google includes its Gemini assistant in Pixel 10 phones. Industry analysts have said the sector’s direction remains uncertain as companies experiment with different designs and functions.
Meta did not outline how the Limitless team or product will be incorporated into its wearable lineup. Siroker said the group will join Meta to work on future devices. The companies said more details will be shared later.
